Footwear FAQ's
Do I need an appointment for a footwear fitting?
Nope! You’re welcome to come down at any time during our opening hours to try on and purchase shoes. You will be correctly measured and fitted, regardless of whether you have an appointment. A Podiatry Appointment is only necessary if you have concerns about your child’s feet and would like a full consultatio. For information about Podiatry Appointments visit our Podiatry page.
I need an invoice for NDIS. Can you help me?
Absolutely! To ensure correct invoicing, when placing an order please insert your child's NDIS number under 'company name' and complete the 'billing details' under the NDIS participant's name.
Once you place your order online, you'll receive a link to a pdf which will contain all the information needed for NDIS.
Need changes? Or need an invoice issued prior to payment? Simply email: accounts@littlebigfeet.com.au and we'll help you from there.
Can I claim footwear on my health fund?
Most funds will claim on Podiatry Services but not on footwear itself. This will depend on your fund and your level of cover. You would also need to be a LBF Patient - that means having had a consultation with us to be on file.
You will need to call your health fund to see if they will cover you for shoes fitted by a Podiatrist. Because different funds will recognize different item numbers, we don’t claim on the spot for footwear - only for services made during a consultation. If you do have cover for footwear (such as bonus cover), you will simply need to pay at the time of purchase and we will give you a receipt and letter from our podiatrist so that you can claim your rebate with your fund.
Will a Podiatrist always fit my child's feet at LBF?
Generally yes. Whilst we have at least several fully qualified Podiatrist on staff at all times they may be with patients at the time of your visit. Our retail team consists of fully qualified Podiatrists, Podiatry students and footwear specific trained team members. The entire team is trained to fit the most difficult of feet, however, if you do have specific concerns about your child's foot/leg position or movement, then we do recommend a full assessment by booking an appointment with our Podiatrists. Appointments can be booked via ourPodiatry page.
How do I know if a shoe is a good fit for my child?
Listen to your child and choose a shoe which they say they're comfortable in. Whilst it is imperative that the shoe is a good fit and feel, it is important that your child is comfortable and likes the shoes, other wise they just won't wear them!
To assist in ensuring the bestfit, we've developed some fit tips which can be found on our Fit Guide page.
If you're unsure and live locally - drop in-store! Nothing beats a proper measure and fit. We'll happily take the hard work out of it for you, by having Podiatrists fit your child's shoes.
Should I consider what the shoe is made from?
We often suggest choosing shoes that are breathable and made from natural fibres. Shoes which are leather lined and leather upper are a good example. Natural fibres always confirm to the foot more readily as well as generally being less smelly. With recent developments in the technology of materials, there are some good man-made textiles nowadays that are anti-microbial, antibacterial, lightweight and durable. We suggest wearing 100% cotton socks inside all enclosed shoes to soak up the sweaty feet and reduce the bad odour; and reducte the liklihood of blisters and sore spots.
How long will my child's shoes last?
More often than not, children will outgrow their shoes before they outwear them (especially good quality shoes). Here is a rough guide to how long a child's shoes will last based upon growth:
Under 2 years: approximately 3-5 months. At this age we recommend only approx 5mm growth room whilst the children are still developing their gait. Shoes that are too big or ill-fitting can cause changes in your child's gait which at this age often may result in tripping and falling.
2 - 5 years: approximately 6 months. Typically children aged between 2 and 5 years will go up one shoe size twice per year.
5+ years: by the time children are Primary school age, their sizing will last approx 9-12 months, when allowing for a thumbs-width (10-12mm) growth room at the time of purchase.
How much growth room should I allow for my child?
This may vary depending on the stage of the child's gait development and any mechanical anomalies. As a guide, we recommend up to 5mm for first walkers (whilst their gait is first establishing), and a half thumbs-width (5-10mm) for children under 2.5yrs, and a full thumbs-width (10-12mm) once they have a confidently established gait (typically over 3yrs). Typically once school aged, children should be fitted with this full thumbs width when purchasing shoes for the remainder of their childhood.
Shipping & Returns FAQ's
What is your return policy?
When you first receive your shoes, we suggest ensuring the correct fit by trying them on inside the house on clean flooring to avoid any wear marks on the soles. Should your shoes not be the correct size or fit (or not quite what you expected), please email info@littlebigfeet.com.au (stating your full name and order number) and we can assist you with the return process. LBF must be contacted via email prior to the return of any goods.
We are happy to provide a credit, refund (excluding shipping) or exchange within 14 days of the original purchase date. Shoes must be unworn (as new condition with no signs of the soles being worn outside) and in original packaging. LBF does not cover the cost of return post for shoes being returned due to change of mind or incorrect selection or style/size. However we will re-issue a new product to you without postage fees.
LBF is not liable for any loss of an item being returned and we suggest returning by registered mail. Returns can be made in-person or by post to:
ATTN: Returns C/O Little Big Feet: 1/661 Oxley Road CORINDA QLD 4075
Sale items are heavily reduced and are often end of line products. As such all Sale items are final, and no return, credit or exchange is possible on these.
Faulty items will be assessed by our Podiatrists and sent to our manufacturer for credit/exchange if within 3 months of the purchase date. We suggest emailing images of the shoes to info@littlebigfeet.com.au so that we can view the fault and reduce the time that you are without the shoes.
